Does anyone know if the Santo Domingo office in the Dominican Republic sends out an AOR? I understand that not all Embassy's send out an AOR, so I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this?
Also when does the AOR go out? After they receive our application? Or after they start to process our application?
The AOR will go to my husband in the DR directly, or will it come to me as the sponsor?
It is real sad but all the embassy did not work like others, but ours came just when our file arrives in Havana. So they send it just to say they start processing and in this lettre they give the DO NOT DISTURB DATE... Good luck !
visa offices vary. sometimes in the same visa office, the way the io works varies as well to whether they update or not. the point is you are normally expected to get an aor after sponsor ship approval (i got mine about 1.5 months) but some people never got anything. when you get sponsor ship approval. wait about 3 months, if you don't hear anything fax them a query. my visa office has indicted that not to contact the embassy until 5 months have elapsed with the application in process yet i got a letter with a form to complete every three months. I know jamaica says to contact after two months. so you really need to go to your local embassy and check their website and see what they say.
For my part, I receive an AOR from SD 1 month after they received our application. It stated that the time to process was between 9 to 18 months... and contact us if you have no news before the 18th of february, the date they received my file in Missisauga.
They sent it by e-mail to my husband and I received a letter here around 1 week later.
Thank you cyren for your very helpful information.
How long after your were notified that you were approved as a sponsor did Santo Domingo receive your application? I guess I am wondering if it was several months or right after you were approved as a sponsor?
Just trying to figure out a timeline for when we can possibly expect our AOR.
Sorry, I dont come so much here... I'm more on Dominican spouses in Facebook.
Well, I sent my papers February 16th, they received in Mississauga Februray 18th. But we were in the time of Haiti.... So, a lot of papers in Mississauga... I was approved as a sponser just at the end of April... Which was a very rare and very slow treatment.... because, once more, of Haiti.
Normally, it takes 3-4 weeks for Mississauga to process your file. After, well, it depends... to be in process can take as long as 3 months but it doesnt matter since they wont do anything anyway in your file before 4-6 months. So, just wait quietly and keep smiling!!!
