Sure. I have known some whoever been through this process

One thing you can is to go to google and search for
Biometrics validity check on Canada
Then enter your UCI and last name and enter, if there is no biometrics then decision is probably made

It has been 6 months since i did my medical and there’s nothing new

It varies which means you might need to wait more- some people wait 6 and others 12 month's

But you can always email the the visa officer - embassy

Canada has plans to reduce GAR every year because of capacity issues so really tough to say what timelines will be like now.

Embassy likely has no idea but you can certainly ask.
