Anyone here knows Alberta drivers licence requirements?

Good day!

Anyone here tell me the light vehicle driving licence requirements for Alberta? Some questions are;

What all are the documents requirement to apply for it?
How long is that process going to take to get the licence in hand?
Is the valid Indian driving licence can help me somehow for a short cut?
Or anything you feel important.

My present driving licence is taken in 2000 from India and its a book type and are not able to read clearly. Do I need to get a card type or any papers from the Road Transport Authority which could help me while I apply for a Canadian drivers licence?

You need to get letter from RTO office and to submit Indian license original. Also need to pass online knowledge test and road test.

Do you know how long it take to receive a driving licence once I have the letter and original drivers licence? Just an approximate time window?

Minimum one month. I have joined with local driving school to take some training before road test. We need to score 25/30 in online driving knowledge test before road test. If you have more driving experience then go for advance road test otherwise go for basic road test.

Is it a long process if I cant get a letter from the RTO in India?

My address is changed and the RT Office told me they will only send it on the address on the drivers licence. Changing the address in a nightmare and its likely to take months.

So my concern is what can I do to apply for a drivers licence with out the letter from the RT Office and with no drivers licence. My present drivers licence was issues almost 14 years ago and everything written on it is not in a readable condition.

Then you need to wait for one year for road test. Also you can go for only basic road test.

Another questions is. My wife has her maiden name on her drivers licence. But the immigration records and passport has a changed name. So does this could cause any problem.

I think u need to change name in license as per passport. Try thro some driving school then u will get it fast.
