Hi, If ny one appearing n Nov 04 IELTS test, we can practice together and share our tips / problem / opinions. and can speak over skype / msn /yahoo for speaking practices and share our writings via e-mails.

If any one interested please PM me.

I appeared in IELTS on 4th (all other) and 5th(speaking), I thought I should share what ever i could remember, inorder to help those who are preparing for IELTS.

Listening :
A conversation between, a lady and a guy. both American accent, taking about a concert and how to purchase the tickets. they were speaking really fast, faster than all of the practice tests I have done.
A student discussing with the about withdrawing her from statistics course. this was OK and speaking speed was also normal. and both had British accent
A guy telling giving some information on transport and visiting places to a tourist, in some African country.
The fourth part, I am not able to remember now, I will post, once I remember

Reading :
Type of question :
T/F/NG, three sets of these question, and I found them the most difficult.
Matching the headings
tell which paragraph contains the text/ideas in questions - 2 sets of these questions

Writing:
A letter to a person whom you dont know, but who lives near your house, and ask him questions about working abroad in the country where he works.

An essay on how the Govt. can change the habits of unhealthy eating and what is the situation in your country.

Speaking :
Do you work or study?
What Job do you do?
Is it necessary to love you job?
Do you like going to seas side?
why people like to go to sea side?
Do you want to live or have home near to sea side?
Do you think schools provide the education which can be used in practical life?
what is best to study till high school then do some job and after some time complete you rest education or opposite.
CUE Cared.
What is the job you want to do,
describe the job, why you want to do it, where you want to do it.
Do you think it is necessary to love you job

This is all I can remember,

I hope it will help other prepare for IELTS

humsafar, let users know where you wrote your test.....

I was asked about 30 questions in speaking section....

you were allowed to go easily in speaking section, anyways! ;-)

They have definitely increased the difficulty level for listening section over the years....espcially the type of questions... these days there are now too many MCQs type questions in the section...

Yes! you're right Asad. Listening section was very hard this time especially the 4th section.

I appeared in Dubai.

Yes the listening was really hard, regarding speaking, I spoke so much that she didnt get chance to ask much questions, but I dont know Iwith how much correct grammar, i have spoken.
:D

In writing test instead of 250 words i wrote around 350 words, will they deduct the marks for overshooting the required words.

Guys who appeared on 4th Nov, in UAE, the results are out,

you can share them here.

what is your score humsafar?

My Score is

Listening : 7.5
R : 8.5 (More than my expectations, I was exepctng 8.0)
W : 7.5 (again more than my exepcatations, because I gambled and tried to wrtire complex sentences with lot of punctuations, I guess It paid,)
S : 7.0 (Less than My expectations, as I was very fluent because luckily got the questions relating to my job experience, even the Cue card is relating to the job I like, so I just started and every time the examiner had to stop me to ask an other question. All together, I dont think she could ask more than 12 to 14 questions in 13 minutes)

Dear humsafar,

what is your native language?

Hi, Winnycanada

I found the first section in listening more dificult, because of the speed they were speaking in the cd, it is way faster than the first listening section on all the Cambridge tests i took while practising. the second factor that made it more difficult is that there are two large speakers in a class of 300 candidates, and if u r sitting near to the speaker the sound is so loud and if u r sitting at the back the sound was to less. In addiiton to that the echo from the large speaker make it more difficult to clearly understand the words.

and my native language is Urdu.

Hi thanks for the response... i think all of us appreciate that...

way faster does not mean TOO fast right? i mean even faster than the normal people in our daily lives?!

where did u take the test... anyone took the test where each test taker is given a headset?

thanks
