Yep. I got it but for only one year back in 2007, although I don't know what's happening now. They are pretty strict about issueing visas to international students in Canada who wants to travel to States unless you have someone there who you want to visit. Best time to apply when you arrive in Canada is around Christmas. Lot of people travel for duty free shopping. But again it really depends on their mood. I remember when I was being interviewed, me and my other classmate we both got 1 year; another male classmate got rejection; one male friend got 10 years all this happened during same hour. So you can imagine. I was also made to explain them my past academic record, college/ university history and what not.
Funny thing is when I travelled to States with my friend via Car for border crossing to enter Buffalo they made us wait for 2 hours for inquires. Pretty painful. They suspect everyone which I know is their job. Ever since I haven't been there despite the fact that I'm Canadian Citizen now.
Here's the website to book your interview for US visa:
First of all thanks for reply.
Couple of questions bro.
Should I apply now and give the reason that I will be going for new year ?
Do I need invitation from a US resident or that is not necessary ?
Can you please give me list of documents I need to carry for an interview. I mean bank statement or a letter from college etc
Looking forward to hear from you bro

Again, I told you it's little tedious to get US visa being International Student of Canada unless you have a good solid reason and can also represent well why you want to travel there. Like you said, for celebrating New Year or Christmas with your friends, etc. is one of the common reasons. You can specify how long you planning to go and that you will have some days off during New Year. So just be clear and have proper docs with you. Don't be nervous and don't try to butter them. For US Visa Officers, the first and foremost question is why as an International student you want to go and they try to see if you're looking to get your way into US somehow and never want to come back to Canada. It depends on their mood on that day too to be honest. They specifically written in front of their gate. If you get a date for interview now, then go ahead. And, you can say you are planning ahead of time as it gets rushy during Winter time.
If you have an invitation from some friend or member of family in US it will definitely support your reason of travel. Have their letter of invitation and contact information handy with you during the time of interview.

P.S. oh, don't bring any electronic devices such as phone to their office as its strictly prohibited. I literally had go to CIBC and gave my phone to some stranger there. So, just make sure of that before you go.
