Hi, I am just looking for some advice on moving and working in Canada. I have applied at several jobs, but had to put down that I am not technically legally able to work there, so I am assuming that they are not calling me back because I am not legal to work there. What do I do in this situation? Put on the app that I am able to work there?
I want to apply for a job, get a workers visa and live with my boyfriend in Edmonton. Is this even possible, and if so does it cost a lot of money? We are planning on getting married in the future, but would rather live together a while before that. I am assuming this would be the only other route, since I will need to help with the bills when I am staying there with him.

1. Telling the employer that you can legally work in Canada won't work. You have to supply a valid Social Insurance No. to work and without a work permit, you can't get one.
2. For you to work the employer must obtain a Labour Market Opinion from HRSDC that there are no Canadians/PRs available for the job and that it was advertised to 2 weeks on the national job bank. Only then can you apply for a work permit.
3. Unless you fall into one the NAFTA classes where no LMO is needed, you are pretty well out of luck.
