My husband went through the one-day military service which I believe used to be called Journée d’Appel de Préparation à la Défense. Looks like this doesn't exist anymore or has since been renamed something else (forgive me my French is a work in progress). He does had the certificate of completion and we were going to mark on the application that he has done military service, provide a copy of the certificate and then provide a little write up of what the day actually entailed.
Is this how you went about it OR did you just mark no under military service? We just want to be as transparent as possible.

That is a "day in the life of", not actual military service. They are looking for information about actually being in the military, possible war involvement, intelligence etc.
