Amend Record of Landing!!

Hi:

I’m trying to amend information on my Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM 5688) and was wondering if anyone have done it before! I know the processing takes around 6 months, here are my concerns:

If you file the application to amend info of COPR, does it delay the processing time for PR card? If yes, Should I wait until I receive the PR card and then apply to correct COPR Information?

In question#13 “Marital Status on your first entry to Canada (check the box that applies to you)”

What does it mean by the first entry? You first entry as PR or the first entry to Canada ever?
My marital status changed in between that’s why I’m unsure what to select.

They issue your PR card considering your COPR's information! So I suggest if crucial information needs to be changed do it before they issue you the PR card. Doesn't matter how long the processing will take, you avoid the time in the beginning to save a lot of headache at end of the road.

Your first entry in Canada means your status when you first entered Canada for the very first time.

Thanks for your input. The only problem here is that the processing time to amend the information is up to 6 months, which likely won't be till I get my PR card sometimes in March 2017.
Does mean still send it the application regardless? or wait

Not sure mate! Better stick around for more answers from seniors. But personally if I had any wrong info on my COPR I would ask for an update as soon as I could. I wouldn't care if it will take 6 months. I'm that fussy about things!

I agree with rezafc. Now that you have a COPR, meaning all checks are done and cleared by the immigration department.
I would suggest apply for the correction and don't mind the delay in getting the PR card. I know the frustration of the wait game. But better late than sorry.
