Hello,

Just got my ECA result yesterday.
My 4-year college education here in Philippines turned out to be just secondary school diploma worth 2 years in a Canadian equivalence.
I already have about 8 years working experience as a software developer.

I'm wondering if ever we (together with my wife) are able to migrate to Canada,
will I still be able to work as a developer knowing that my education equivalence is just secondary school diploma?
OR companies won't accept me and would require me to acquire a 4-year degree course in a Canadian institution?

CREDENTIAL ANALYSIS
Name on Credential: Jerome Jimenez
Credential authentication: Documents were sent directly by the institution
Country: Philippines
Credential: Bachelor of Science
Year: 2012
Awarded by: Batar College of Technology
Status: Recognized Institution
Major: Information Technology
Canadian equivalency: Secondary school diploma and diploma (two years)

Honestly no one can answer you and say you will get a job as a developer. Companies don’t necessarily care about where you went to school but your experience. You need to build up Canadian experience too.

There are ways. You need to research about the PNP options. I am not sure about you getting approved for a Study Permit, but if your spouse could enroll to a Canadian course and get a study permit then you can be a dependent and you will be able to apply for a work permit and you can work during her whole visa period.

I'd suggest to check your eligibility with Ontario PNP Tech priority stream

I strongly believe you will be able to work

Probably some MNC's might consider. But mostly companies prefer skills and experience rather than the education
