I worked for my employer for a whole 52 weeks, and had to stop working due to my work permit has expired.
About 2 months later, I got my BOWP from CEC, but I can't go back to previous employer as my position has been filled.
I am still looking for jobs, I wonder if I am eligible for EI in my case?
Yes you are. If they disapproved you the first time, send an appeal with all your documents and you will be fine. I am saying this based on experience

Hello iamelle,
I was in workpermit (ICT) before and worked for a year and 6months for my company. Came back to my country a year before. Now my PR approved going to land may be Jan or Feb 2015. May I eligible to get EI ? so that it will help till I will get a job.
Just thought asking this.
Please let me know your comments.
Thanks in advance.
^ Sorry but I don't know the answer to your question. You might as well call them and ask for their advise. Good luck!
Hi,
You may enjoy EI regular benefits if you:
1) are employed in insurable employment;
2) lost your employment through no fault of your own;
3) have been without work and without pay for at least seven consecutive days in the last 52 weeks;
4) have worked for the required number of insurable hours in the last 52 weeks or since the start of your last EI claim, whichever is shorter;
5) are ready, willing, and capable of working each day; and
6) are actively looking for work (you must keep a written record of employers you contact, including when you contacted them).
You may not be able to receive EI regular benefits if you:
1) voluntarily left your employment without just cause;
2) were dismissed for misconduct; or
3) are unemployed because you are directly participating in a labour dispute (strike, lockout, or other type of dispute).

No - you're not eligible for EI.
Thank for all of your inputs.
