Hello,

I applied in July this year for my PR Inland. I would like to ask you for some opinions to the following situation: My sister in law (Canadian Citizen), who is also one of my best friends, is working in a pawn shop, this shop is close to where my husband and I live. My husband is working during the week and since I`m not allowed to work yet in Canada and since I don`t know many people here in our town I`m alone during the day. My sister in law told me, that I could visit her during the day in the pawn shop and stay there with her until they close. Now I`m not sure if I`m too over concerned....but could that cause any trouble for me, when I sit in the shop with her ? I am kind of scared, that it could look like that I work illegal there. You never know, something might happen in the pawn shop, the Police comes and sees me sitting there, not sure if that would look bad ?

thanks in advance !

I can't imagine this being a problem at all. You seem to understand that you cannot work (even if it's unpaid), so if you're simply `in the building' if something happens, where the police are called...how can that be a violation?

Did you apply for the Open Work Permit that is available to an Inland applicant? If you did, you could legally `work' in that pawn shop soon. ;)

thank you Ponga !

yes, I applied also for a OWP with my inland application. Who knows, maybe in December I could work already in Canada legally....that would just be too awesome to be true :D I always count with the worst, so that I`m in the end not disappointed IF something goes wrong ::) but since I had legal status while I applied for my OWP I hope there will be no problems *fingers crossed*.

You can go visit her no problem. Just do not ever do any work - do not even jump up to help her on a busy day.
