My Dad was born in Vancouver BC in 1960 and his entire side of my family has lived in Canada for generations (our old homestead is still there). I was born in the US and my mother is from the US but would I be considered a Canadian citizen since my father was born there? He is not a US citizen even though he has been here since he was 4
Yes, you are a Canadian citizen. In fact, if your father never ceased to be a Canadian citizen, then you have always been a Canadian citizen, and, if you have any children born before April 17, 2009, they are also Canadian citizens.
While your children doesn't qualify under "born Canadian", they do qualify for citizenship once they gain Permanent Resident status after you sponsor them, provided that you intend to move and settle in Canada.
