Hi
When I am on IEC work permit, am I allowed to have provincial (Alberta) health care and IEC health insurance simultaneously?
In the requirements of the IEC insurance (Destination Canada) it is mentioned that getting provincial health care oor even being eligible for it will cause the IEC insurance end!
Cannot comment on the destination Canada quote but surely whether your IEC insurance is valid or not is determined by the insurance company your IEC insurance was contracted with ?
It is more likely that if a provincial insurance covers you that the IEC insurance policy will not pay out else would be double cover. However remember the main reason for the IEC insurance is to cover repatriation to your home country for any major medical issues that will not get resolved in Canada as a temp resident, any provincial insurance will not cover you for repatriation.
"You cannot have provincial medical when you purchase a Canadian travel medical policy or enter Canada using that policy. Provincial medical ends when your current work visa ends (I do not believe that it's possible to have two different work visas at the same time). If you are changing visas, your provincial medical coverage should have been terminated, but it is up to you to confirm that."
