Alberta Opportunity Stream Application

Hello everyone,

Rcently arrived in Canada on an open work permit, while my spouse is a student. I have received a job offer and I'm interested in applying for the AOS stream. However, I was confused while filling out the application form regarding which option to choose. for this question

Are you currently residing in Alberta under a work permit issued by IRCC? Yes/NO

Permit type :

1. Hong Kong Recent Graduates Open Work Permit
2. International Experience Canada
3. International Free Trade Agreements
4. Intra-company transferees
5. Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)
6. Mobilité Francophone
7. Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)
8. R205(d) Religious Work
9. Ukraine CUAET Open Work Permit
10. VWOWP (Vulnerable Worker Open Work Permit)
11. Other

When I select "Other," I receive a message stating that I am not eligible for this stream. Could someone please help me with this issue?

You do not qualify to apply under this stream. Here is the full eligibily list from the AOS website:

You are currently on a spousal open work permit (SOWP) which is not among the eligible types of permits. Your best bet is to have the employer support a closed work permit with LMIA to qualify for this stream.

As mentioned, you are not eligible under your current permit. Also don’t know your work experience.
At the time your application is submitted you must have either:

• a minimum of 12 months full-time work experience in your current occupation in Alberta within the last 18 months, or
• a minimum of 24 months of full-time work experience in your current occupation in Canada or abroad within the last 30 months or both – this work experience can be a combination of experience gained in Alberta, in Canada (outside Alberta) or abroad.

Look at Express Entry or getting a LMIA.

@Naturgrl --> I have the required experience and already working now for my employer as a full-time employee ( I'm a programmer with 5 years exp.) .
@Chasechs --> a closed work permit with LMIA --> this is not the best idea since i have to work for him only and limited my chances to find a better chance later.

So if you don’t want to get a LMIA, then AOS is not an option. Look at Express Entry or AINP-Express Entry streams.

You can commit to working for the employer while your application is being processed, once you have the COPR, you can find something else. When you receive your PR nothing is tying you to a specific employer. These are your options.

I don't understand the question. It is not possible to apply for AOS with a SOWP. You will be refused.

The thing is I received the invitation to apply from AOS on sowp , what should i do in this case ?
