SO, i am a US citizen and my husband is canadian citizen. i applied for my PR in april and put a open work permit app in the envelope as well, we put my husband's uncle's mailing address on the app and he recieved my work permit today. now my husband and i are visiting some of his family out of the province and i cannot see the owp, but we are planning on having him fax it to us here, my question is...what next? i know that since my work permit arrived it means i got my AIP, but that paperwork hasn't arrived yet. but does the owp mean i can just...go apply for a job and thats it? can i get my driver's license and on my husbands medical? Any help would wonderful =] thank you.
Yes, with an open work permit, you can go out and get a job. You are now officially a legal resident so you should be able to get a drivers license and provincial health care.
Can you explain what is an open work permit? Is it necessary to apply for one as part of the sponsorship-PRV application?
thanks
It's only needed for inland application.
