This really worries me as I prepare the sponsorship application for my husband. Our marriage happened on Philippines. There was a clerical error on my residential address on our marriage certificate. I never lived on the place written there and I gave them my current address here in Canada when we applied for marriage license. Can I submit an affidavit of explanation from here in Canada that I never lived on that address and submit it together with the sponsorship application? Because I can't declare that I lived there over the past 5 year as one of the questions in the application.

Is it possible to get an updated certificate with the correction? If that is a long wait, I would advise applying for it, and including a letter with your application explaining that the wrong address was included on the certificate, but you are in the process of requesting it to be changed/updated and that you'll forward them a copy of it when you receive it.
