Hi!

I'm really hoping someone can help me :)

My situation:
Yesterday I was laid off
I am from a visa exempt country
I am on a closed work permit - expiring September 21, 2014
I am in a common-law relationship with a Canadian citizen
I applied for PR via CEC in January 2013.

According to the Canada wizard on the CIC website, I can apply to change the conditions of my work permit. Does anyone know if this is the case? Or is this essentially BOWP?

I am also looking at Family Sponsorship - if I convert to a visitor status in Canada, I understand we can apply Outland - once my partner has been approved, would I move to implied status? Can I then get an open work permit?

Thanks so much!

Apply for BOWP write a cover letter that for finding new job you need a open work permit, some one did it here and was sucessful search this forum and ask for a template from that user if u can

you can always apply for BOWP since u have AOR and you need to mention it in cover letter

Thank you so much Gladaki ---- +1

I do wonder whether the new OB485A is designed to slam the door shut on applications with more than four months remaining on the work permit. Specifically the new section on who is not eligible. I would assume that the visa officer still has some discretion in this kind of case.

I doubt that the VO has any discretion, if the WP is valid for longer than 4 months, too bad, so sad.
