Hi everyone. Been PR with my kids and jerky husband in CA for 5months. I don't have a job yet guess I may not just be lucky but my husband did landed a job just 2 weeks after we got here. My 2 kids go to school without his financial support won't buy foods for them and giving only 1/2 of his paycheck to me to pay for our apt. It is in fact my bro and sis who make up for everything or whatever we need esp for my kids. Since we are not in good terms even before we left our home country because he had an affair, so now Ive been bearing all these misery just not to abandon us. He even threatened me if I insist asking more for what he can only give he will move out and live alone. He is a bastard excuse my words. From the very start of the idea he doesn't really want to come to canada (I have my parents and siblings here) so before we did got here he cheated on me. Really? I was like in desperation and the lowest time of my life. When I got here I was not even happy cuz of our relationship is in extreme rough rocky agony. I don't know what steps to take I'm so sick and tired of him. I want him out of my life and my kids not even a good model to them.

You should google your city name and "immigrant services" or "women immigrant help." Many cities have help and free legal services for immigrants. Just a note - because it's free, it can be slow. That's the "price" of free.

If you can arrange to talk with a lawyer, they can help you explore your options and give you a realistic idea on what to expect as far as your husband's rights to see his children (because he will have rights to see the kids in most situations) and child support payments. (If he's giving you half of his paycheck, then you're doing pretty good.... and you probably need to face the fact the place you're living is outside your budget.)

I'm no expert, but it sounds like your husband has been giving you loud and clear signs he wants out. See about getting some legal advice and try to bide your time. The better prepared you are, the smoother the transition can be for you and the kids.

If you happen to be in Calgary, the place is called "Calgary Immigrant Women's Centre" aka CIWA. I used their help in preparing a study permit. It took about a month to arrange to see a lawyer from start to finish.

I have done some research and readings around here. Also I've found a free lawyer I'm going to see him this week. Thanks so much!
