Hi,

I am about to apply for a Study Permit as an international student to study at a College. What I feel my complicate my application process is my sponsor (father). He just informed me that I have a Step Sister (whom he also is a sponsor for) currently studying in Canada and He informed me I need to fill this out in my application for a Canadian study permit as it may be seen by the Consular/Immigration Officer as lying. Problem is I know my father has multiple children outside my own mother, but I don’t know how many, nor have I ever met any of them. He has always kept our lives separate and I would very much like to keep it that way.

  1. Do I have to put information about my step sister for my Visa Application? And, how will it affect my application?

  2. Will this information be added to my documentation permanently? If yes, is there a way to remove this information later in future?

  3. If I do fill this information out now, what are the implications for me in Canada now and in the future for future visa applications to Canada if my study permit is granted?
P.S. I have a younger brother (we both share the same father and mother)

1. Yes you must put her information.

2. She will always be your family. There would be no reason why she would need to be removed from future applications.

3. Hard to say.

You should consult your father when filing out the family information or explain in your application that you have other siblings through your father but he is unwilling to provide all the details.
