Adding Spouse to PR

I will be doing a soft landing in Vancouver in October and eventually planning to move permanently by July next year. I am pretty sure between this time I will get married so I am wondering what exactly is the process of adding my spouse to my PR so she can travel with me as a dependant.

Will it help if she has applied for PR as well?

If you get married after finishing the landing process then you can either sponsor her or she can apply for PR based on her own merits.

great! Do I have to be in Canada to sponsor her? Because I would like to move when I find a job in Canada but I wouldn't want to leave her behind.

And what is the approx time taken for the sponsorship?

1 - Yes, you have to be in Canada.
2 - 80% of the applications get processed within a year.

I live in Norway and thought I would get married, have my spouse come over to live with me and then try to add her name to my PR and then move to Canada when it is done.

I wonder if everyone has to leave their spouse behind for almost a year when they marry someone outside Canada.

You are not adding her to your PR as you are planning to land before doing so.
