Three week ago we became parents to a little baby boy, we now want to add him to our application (that is already being processed, we recieved SA 20 days ago) but are not sure which forms to fill out. We have emailed CIC but would like to get started asap.
My wife is the sponsor, she is Canadian by descent and our baby was born in Denmark which means she cannot pass on Canadian citizenship to him and will need to sponsor him instead. I'm Danish, we live in Denmark but my wife have lived most of her life in Canada.
Have anyone else experienced a similar situation, and how did it affect the total processing time?
If you just recently received SA, wait about 30 days then send a case specific inquiry to the embassy processing your application advising them of the birth of your son and that he will need to be added to your application as a dependent. They SHOULD advise you which forms to fill out and send to them. It shouldn't change your processing times by much if any at all since the baby does not need to meet all the same medical requirements that you needed to and will not need a police certificate or any police clearances
Congrats on the new baby and best of luck getting your visa in hand making your move to Canada
Given that you've only just received SA, if you get everything together quickly for the baby, it won't delay the app at all. Pay the fee, take the baby for the medical exam, have the PR photos taken, get the birth certificate and the Danish passport, fill out a new IMM0008. The VO may request additional forms be redone, so wait for their response.
