I am a Canadian citizen with an approved H1B I797. I am thinking if its a good idea to drive across the border and 'activate' my H1B status a month or so before moving to the US for good?

The reason I am thinking of this is - because Canadians dont need a consulate interview and stamp, the decision lies in the hands of border officer. I dont want to take a chance after selling my house of being denied at the airport.

Anyone gone through moving to US as a Canadian citizen on H1B? Is every entry the same or is the 1st time entry special in some way?
