Hi everyone, I studied my bachelors in pharmacy in india and i studied post secondary (diploma) course in biotechnology technologist. I have 3 yrs of work permit. I am working as a cook for last 1 yr in manitoba. I applied mpnp under employment direct stream and i got refusal because i have 2 more yrs work permit. Can i apply to CEC on my cook job. Cook job is entirely different from my field of study. So what is sucesss percentage of CEC if i applied under cook position
Yes, because it is classified as a skilled occupation (skill level B).

There is no relationship between a specific occupation and the "success" in applying in the CEC class. You have to prepare a complete and correct application following CIC's instructions.

thanks for your reply. My friend mpnp also rejected. His work permit will expire on july 24th 2013 . He is eligible to apply CEC from may 22 2013. So what happens if he didnt get acknowledgement in these 2 months. How he can extend his work permit? He can stay in canada with out acknowledgement of CEC

If your friend applied for CEC at the end of May, It is unlikely (not impossible) that your friend would receive the AOR before the expiration of his current work permit. If he did, he could submit an application for a bridging open work permit BEFORE the expiration of his current work permit.
Otherwise, he should ask his current employer to apply for a labour market opinion (LMO) so that he can renew his work permit.
My friend is also a cook. He is not working in his field of study (pharmacy). So he is eligible to apply lmo? When he has start the processing for lmo and how many months it takes?
I'm a January 2013 CEC applicant and I've been refused the MPNP application before because I went to school in BC and have a brother in BC.
As MPNP is one of the easiest immigration programs in Canada, many people abuse the system. I think that's why they assess applications based on applicants' strong ties to Manitoba.
Are you sure that MPNP rejected your application because you have 2 more years on your work permit?
If you meet the requirements of skilled work experience gained on a proper work permit and language ability, You will be fine.
