So I had cataracts removed from both my eyes and the eye doctor concluded that it was necessary to have it checked, and they called me today and needed to book an appointment. I kindly told the lady it had to wait, since I haven't received AIP yet, and hence why do have an expired AB health card. It is urgent since the pressure in my eyes is abnormally high!

So is there a way I can get AB health. If my partner and I go down to the local registry with a copy of our ECAS page (both his and mine) and some proof that we paid the immigration fee for our Inland app? - or maybe something else? It's worrying me, and it's a procedure (laser type) and there is no way we can afford it if we pay upfront!

If you are here on a visitor visa for at least 6 months you can apply for Alberta Health but it may take up to 3 months before you are insured.

I am on implied status. I previously had a visitor extension which ran out in August. Since then i haven't restored it. So with a pending OWP is there a way we can go the registry and try get it?

You can request an extension of AHC if you are on implied status. Workers and students are pretty much guaranteed but visitors are assessed on a case by case basis. I'm sure a PR app with an OWP helps. You are supposed to request the extension before your AHC expires, however we requested ours about a week after and got it (although we were extending a WP not a visitor permit). Our extension came in about 10 days.
