I have worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Canada for two years. In the first 1.5 years, I did not leave Canada at all. But in the remaining 0.5 year, I had two very short leaves for my home in Hong Kong. The first one was 2-3 days and the second one was about 1 week .
I am wondering if this is still considered as two-year work experience in Canada, i.e. is the allowed leave days deducted from the calculation of work experiences?
(I personally think this is not a problem at all and I will still be considered as having two years experience. Sorry for this silly question but I just would like to have a confirmation)

You are generally permitted to take a minimum of 2 weeks of paid vacation (possibly more, depending on your contract). It does not matter whether you take this time in Canada or outside of Canada. If you take an unpaid leave of absence (as opposed to paid vacation), then it does not count and you would have to work longer to make up the lost time. I'm assuming that you were on paid holiday/vacation time and it is not a problem.
