I am in Alberta, husband is in Nigeria. As far as I can see, he needs to sign a consent form for me to send along with the request for CAIPS notes. Can this consent be printed out, scanned and emailed to me? Or must it be the original, posted to me? If it's the latter, we do not have time to get CAIPS before the interview. If he can scan it and email it, I could get he request sent in today.

Please advise!

Thanks!

What are CAIPS? and how will they help you?

They are all the notes writen on your file by the IO. It is beneficial to order them once you have an interview date set so that you know the reason for the interview.

They take 5-6 weeks to recieve, so as you can see, we are in a time crunch!

how did they even go through your entire file so fast? weren't there like 1000 pages?

like do the notes say.. oh this is sketchy..let's ask more info.. hmm this sounds strange.. let's confirm this? type thing?

Try scanning it. If they don't accept it, you're only out $5.
All my husband's CAIPS said, prior to the interview, was "Cannot establish relationship based on the evidence submitted. Will require interview."

I have no idea how they got through so fast. Most of my app was communication evidence, so I doubt they had to read it all!

Not sure exactly what the notes will say, but I am hoping they will give us some clue as to whether the background and medicals have been done, so we know if we have a chance of my husband getting his visa the same day.

Yes I hope they do give him the visa right away.. that would be annoying if they didnt

Thats amazing that they would still require the interview with all 600 pages of documentation that she sent in. Wouldnt they consider that enough evidence??? I guess it all depends on the person reviewing the file. . .

I cant wait until this entire immigration process is over ???

Just missing my hubby. . .

GTWifey, I am missing my husband too! I'm staying up late hoping he will call me when he wakes up in Nigeria...not too much longer now as its 6:30am there.

We are not surprised about the interview. Even with all our evidence they will want to talk to him. We are an interracial couple, and I was divorced with three children. It probably looks a bit suspicious, so they will need to meet him and hear from him what he thinks about all of that.

I think if I were Nigerian (or even black) and this was my first marriage it would be no problem.

If your spouse appointed you the representative, you are free to transact directly with one of the several companies who order CAIPS notes. I ordered on 23 May, and they arrived in my email 2 July. $30 I recall.

It is important to choose a company located near Ottawa, because they send the request by regular mail, and time is short.

Don't worry my dear. My husband always tells me that at the end of every lonely night there comes a new day. That new day will bring us closer to being reunited with our loved ones. I hope that you were able to reach your husband in Nigeria this morning. ;)

With respect to the interview, I sense your anxiety over the divorce/interracial issue. Lets hope that he meets with an IO who can see past the race/sterotype issue. (I've read about so many Nigerian internet/marriage of convenience& online dating, immigration, & business scams). They will question his credibility based on the past practice of men in his country. On the other hand, there are many of us divorced with children so don't worry about that. With the permission of my ex husband, my children attended our wedding overseas. I sent in all the pics to CIC. Blended families are a huge reality in our society these days; even for those couple lucky to be living together in Canada. ;)

I ordered CAIPS notes twice and each time it took approximately 5 weeks from the time I mailed it. However, I also doggedly followed up om my second CAIPS request as it was close to our interview date, and I think this helped ensure someone was watching our request to get it mailed out asap.

Thanks everyone! I ordered them today from caipsnotes.com and paid $35 because they will just have to be mailed from Ottawa to the company in Brampton and then will be emailed to me. I was advised I will get the notes between August 16 and 26, which makes it likely we will have them before his interview on the 24th. If not, oh well, at least we tried!

universalmoe - how did you follow up on your request? Did you call CIC to ask them to rush it?

hello all,

when i ordered my caips notes (thru caips itself for $5.00) i called them and they said that they send it out in the mail exactly 30 days from when they recieve it, and that's exaclty what they did. they rec'd it on may 20th, they mailed it out on june 21st, and i rec'd it june 24th :)

the notes weren't helpful, it basically reiterated everything we put on the applications, it didn't say the reason for the interview :S
