Dear Experts

I tool 3 weeks of holidays during which i was not paid (went outside canada) but i get my vacation pay in every paycheck (4%). I also saw that VO considers up to 2 weeks of paid holiday

-Can i consider 2 weeks as paid holiday and work just 1 week in order to complete my 1 year?

-Another question in one of the paycheck i only did 53 hours (i am paid biweekly) as i was seriously ill. Will that duration be counter or i need to do another extra week?

Thank you all in advance

Unfortunately, it is harder for workers paid an hourly wage rather than a salary.

But yes, I believe you can count 2 weeks of paid vacation, as long as the vacation pay is explained in your Letter of Employment; I think it would also be a good idea to include the dates of your vacation(s) in the letter.

As for your time off for illness, there is no guidance, so it would be safest to assume you need to work an extra week there as well.

As always, give yourself a cushion wait at least 2-4 weeks after you qualify to apply (if that is at all feasible).

I am in a quite similar situation.

During the 52 weeks, i was sick for two days and took two days unpaid vacation.
The sick days were on two separate weeks, so my working hours was still over 30 hours.

But the two-day unpaid vacation was in the same week, I worked only 22.5 hours that week and was not mentioned in the employment letter. Will it be a problem?

On the employment letter, it says (name) is currently employed as (job title) from April 15, 2013 to April 18, 2014. The two dates equal to 53 working weeks. The date of the letter is April 23 (one week after).
