Re: 4 Semesters then 1 year qualifiying work experience. jes_ON please address
I was unable to post the link as you requested, but i copied the following information from the program website:
(Humber College)
Child and Youth Worker – Accelerated
Application Program Code: 10421 Advanced Diploma
Postgraduate
School of Social & Community Services
4 Semesters 2010/11 Availability
Lakeshore Campus
September - CLOSED Four consecutive semesters, beginning in September
After completeing this program, will I qualify for 3yrs PGWP and CEC with the qualifying work experience?
The accelerated program is 16 consecutive calendar months, so I think it would be considered "less than 2 years" and that your PGWP would be for 16 months as well.
If you could manage to complete your 1 year of employment within that time frame, you would qualify for CEC (although you might have to go home while your CEC application is processing, because - could be wrong - but I don't think you could get a TWP to extend your stay after your PGWP expires... this would not affect your eligibility, but it would be disruptive to your career).
If you chose the 6-semester (2 year) program, that would probably get you a 2-3 year PGWP (but of course, 2 additional semesters of tuition is the problem).
Have you posted this question in the Students forum? They may have more knowledge of PGWPs...
I have posted in the Student forum, but the reply was to check with CIC., but there is no option to speak with someone in the Canadian Consulate that serves my country. i would have to contact them from within Canada.
I really want to know though...it will determine the program I choose.
