Hi everyone,

I recently found out that my citizenship knowledge test invitation (and the follow-up reminder) ended up in my junk mail folder. I had been waiting for months, but I only discovered the emails today—after the deadline had already passed twice.

I was really shocked that such an important email got filtered as junk. I’ve now emailed IRCC explaining the situation and requesting a reschedule, but I’m not sure what to expect.

Has anyone else experienced this? Did IRCC allow you to retake the test? How long did it take to get a response? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Don't you check your tracker? They will invite you again as you missed it for the first time. Timeframe could be weeks or months. You can raise a webform request and also call IRCC to see if that helps in moving things faster.

Don't miss the second time else they will abandon your application and you will lose your fees too.

it's actually the 2nd time, the deadline of 2nd time is Jan 04, I only found out yesterday. I dont know if i still have chance there if I call IRCC.
My wife waitted his citizen test last year, for about 1 year. So i have the impression that it would not be that fast. However, when chatting with my other firend, who appliaed way later than me and alrady got the citizen test, i went to check the junk and was so shockly found they are all in the junk mail box.

so you think there is no chance? i could get another reschedule? since they close my file?

Call them and see. No way for anyone outside IRCC to know how quickly they decide it's been abandoned. Past experience may not be a good guide.

never able to get IRCC answer my call...

You can try your MP's office, but strongly suggest keep calling. (Mp's office will take weeks itself).

If you haven't, you can write a webform with short explanation; they are supposed to clear webforms before taking final disposition - but they could do so by deciding 'too late' and making a note to file (at least I think they could). Still, worth a try.

i finally got through to IRCC customer service, and they said the best thing to do is to reply to the email listed in the notification—IRCC.MtlConvoTests.IRCC@cic.gc.ca—explain my situation, and request a reschedule. Then I’d just have to wait. I told them I already did that, so they said, “Okay, then you just have to wait to hear back. They might send you a link to reschedule.
I also asked if there was a good chance of that, and they said, “What I just told you is the best answer you can get right now. I can’t make any promises; it’s all up to the office.” So basically, I just need to keep waiting. There’s no given timeframe. If it takes too long without any news, I can call IRCC again. I asked how long “too long” is, and they said they couldn’t tell me that either.

for the webform you mentioned, There’s a “reschedule” option on the web form, but it’s meant for people who already have a set date and need to change it. I don’t even have a date yet, so I can’t fill in those required fields.(i dont want to just fill up some fake dates) So I ended up selecting “technical issue,” explaining that the email went to my junk folder and I missed it, and now I’m asking how to reschedule.

only thing i can do is pray for the best. i am not in hurry to get citizen but just dont want to waste 600+ or 800+ appliation fee...it's crazy expensive.
