2017 Parent Sponsorship - T4s only from 2014 onwards

Hi,

I am looking into applying to sponsor my mother in 2017 however under the previous sponsorship program, the sponsor had to show 3 years of T4s demonstrating total income greater than the minimum income. So under the old program, to apply in 2017, you had to show the T4s for 2013,2014, and 2015. Since the application had to be submitted in the month of January, there was no scope to provide T4s of the immediate previous year.

I only have T4s meeting the income requirement from 2014 onwards. If I happen to get selected under the new system, I would have 90 days to submit my application and I would already have my T4 for 2016 as well - making it 3 years of tax forms in total but not exactly how the previous program would require.

Does anyone have any thoughts on whether I should fill out the online form given only my 2014 onwards tax forms qualify for the sponsorship? Or should I wait till Jan 9th for the new forms to come out and then fill out the online form?

I would appreciate any thoughts or ideas.

You should expect that you will not qualify to apply in 2017. With NOAs from 2014, 2015, 2016, most likely you will only qualify to apply in 2018.
