In 2014 CIC will require 3 years of proof of financial income. Now i intend to sponsor both my parents in Jan 2014 when they start accepting parents sponsorship applications again. Now i've been on mat/parental leave from Nov 2012 and will join work in Sep 2013. Now at the time of application (Jan 2014), the immediate 12 months preceding application since i was on mat leave, my gross income for year 2013 will be less than LICO. But my salary package has been $70,000-73,000 pa since 2011 and will rejoin work this Sep 2013 at the same package. My gross income is sufficient to sponsor both my parents. So my question is does being on mat leave in the 12 months preceding the application disqualify me from sponsoring my parents in Jan 2014 seeing as i am still employed with the same company n at the same salary package? Thanks in advance!!!
As per the new regulations, you would have to meet the (increased) income requirements for all 3 years. Is it not possible for you to include your spouse's income by making him a co-sign the sponsorship agreement?
Hi sakhamath unfortunately i dont have a co-signer. Surely being on mat leave shouldn't work against me . is there any contact number for CIC where i can call and verify this? Thanks.

1-888-242‑2100 but I am afraid you won't get much help as the rules just came out and not sure if they prepared for all the FAQ's
If you don't have a co-signer, your income will not be enough ( with the baby as additional family member, thus increasing LICO ), you may still apply, and it will be refused and file might goto Local Visa Office where they might consider but chances are dim
How much will you get during Mat leave? anyways and is it just 4? You, baby and parents as 4 would require around 56K but has to be 3 continuous years
