Are there any other consequences of having the 2 CEC applications at the same time except the delay that you are experiencing?
When did you send your 2nd application?
I am 100% sure there are no consequences of applying twice but it might delay the process a bit because they will have to go forth and cross check your current file.
I am also thinking of sending my 2nd application soon. I am on 10 month and 4 days time line...They should be deciding some thing soon for me. So if I send application on 10th, I can recieve AOR by 20th October..and if i get MR before that I can always cancel my application.
I haven't called CIC? Do you have their number? what is the typical waiting time on the phone?
Do you think If you have 2 applications they would somehow conflict eachother and somehow jeopardize both applications. But I haven't found anywhere that If you have 2 apllications in the same categaries both applications would be refused and you will be banned forever for a PR application.
I think the only risk here is loosing application fees. I'am not to worried about the waiting 3 to 4 months. But I would be upset to waiting 9 months and get a refusal at the end.
For myself I have already the 2nd application packed, just waiting response from their end. My dead line for mailing the new application is on 17th or 18th.

Yeah just send out the packet by 17th. Wont hurt..Call CIC helpline...last time i called waiting time was 15 mins. I will also send my application soon..But they asked if visa is ever denied...i dont know what to do if they reject my application...during waiting time for AOR
My first application was rejected , but everyone assured me the mistake was on their side.
So I did not want to waste time while waiting for them to re-open my file because I wasn't sure if they would do that, so I applied again with a cover letter explaining exactly what had happened to my previous application.
And also I wrote them a letter saying the mistake was made on their side and I want my application to be reopened.
So they reopened my application and as well as started processing the new one.
