Hi everyone,
I just got my Canada Visa today. It is great!
However, I'm so confusing why it is only 1 year validity. My son got 6 years, that lasts until his current passport needs to renew.
We both applied with same letter from my son-in-law. He just told me that almost people apply for visitor Visa to Canada would be granted a Visa with a duration equal to the remaining time of his/her passport unless being refused.
So, any reason makes my Visa only 1 year?
Thank you for considering my question.

Your son has stronger ties/reasons to return to his country of residence + a stronger visa profile as compared to you

Thank you so much. You are right! He's been traveled to more countries than me. But he is a student and depends on me.
Anyway, it's great to have an opinion from you. I really appreciate it
