We're still waiting on my husband's PR (in MIFI's hands atm). He applied for a SOWP last August. When he first applied the estimated wait time from IRCC was 170days (which is today). But in Jan it was 151 days, and the start of February it was 125 days! But when it comes to how long it will take in our case is the 170days the one that's accurate for us? If not, is it normal to be a month and a half over the estimated processing time?

Note: I sent a webform inquiry to the IRCC for the application exceeding the estimated wait time. We got an email stating it could be used to extend his previous work permit in the interim (until they've made a decision on his application.) Unfortunately, we didn't file for an extension, he didn't have a wp previously. So it doesn't really do anything for us. What would've been helpful would be to know why it's taking so long, that's when I thought about the 170 day thing.

No-one knows or can tell you: it's an estimate. Some are faster, some are slower.

The numbers for estimated times change because they measure how long files are taking, looking backwards. There's no simple way to predict.

That's fair, I suppose I mean is that fairly common for it to be off by that much time (or more)? I am a sample size of one, and have no previous experience dealing with the IRCC, so I don't if it's unusual or par for the course.

Yes, there is a considerable amount of variability from case to case.

it is indeed an estimation but whichever to go by, your processing time is way passed that
you have the right to demand an answer from IRCC when it passed the "estimated" processing time
i would call IRCC at least every week until someone can give an answer :)
