I ended up getting a hold of an IRCC agent and they told me there is no application on file even though I paid and had gotten a confirmation email of my submission They forwarded a request to the processing office in Sydney, NS and they should follow up with me.
Update on this: they never got back to me, so I ended up creating a new account from a different email address and submitting the application again with the same payment on Jan 11th, 2025. Today I got AOR on that application.

No to depress you or anything, but I have read in previous month applicant forums, that Scarborough and Mississauga are some of the slowest IRCC offices when it comes to processing citizenship applications. Apparently Niagara Falls is the fastest in our area.....
And for the most part, I have noticed that things start to move forward when the background check is completed. More and more, I am reading applicants mentioning that they have been scheduled for the test as their background checks come through as completed. And then I've noticed that the LPP sections are closed out about a month after their test timeframe has past.
Check the tool they have on the IRCC site... just answer "no" to the last question that asks you if you have received your AOR...and then you will see the date IRCC is processing AORs for...they updated this weekly

A bunch of November applicants are getting ghost updates and their background checks marked as completed, then followed by test invites. Looking at timelines, seems to me the background checks are sent in batches and updated in batches....and it takes between 1 to 2 months for that process.
So looks like we are about a month away from getting our background checks marked as completed. I have a feeling some come back quickly but officers are entering them in batches.

Yeah, I know. You're an outlier in that your timeline may be faster than the norm.
My aor is a month after yours so I'm expecting my background check to complete in Feb.
