Need help My passport was taken during an asylum interview at the cbsa office in Montreal I sent email to return my passport back a month before but no response what should I do now any idea?

Did you got your passport back? If yes what process did you followed? I applied refugee in 2020 and my passport was seized in Montreal IRCC. I got my PR under spousal sponsorship and have withdrawn my refugee case. My lawyer faxed my passport return letter to CBSA with all the supporting docs( Passport copy, PR card, Notice of seizure). I recieved reply from CBSA to send IRCC an email as i got my PR from immigration. I have called IRCC and they said my passport is with Montreal and office will contact me... waiting from sep no response yet. I have called IRCC so many times they just say this same thing. Does anyone know what else i can do as i live in ottawa and they say ottawa ircc will handle it further. I will be waiting for your reply please help..!

No bro i filed my refugee case 2015 which was refuse and i ended up submitting my passport at Cbsa in 2022 Nov , but i git married in 2017 and file sponsorship 2020 , thats how i got my PR , so now issue is how do i get back my passport ?

Did you get you passport back? I also submitted my passport to ircc montreal. Can you please share the process. I am waiting for over 2 months now. I also got PR under spousal and withdrew my case.

According to the post & link before you, you need send the form by regular mail (email would not be considered).

I also sent an email to ircc montreal but haven't got any response. I also made the request over the phone. It's been 2 months no response yet. Every time i call them they tell me to wait that's it.

Hey, Once the appointment is made i guess everyone has to go to pickup their passports. They will ask for your PR card.

Really? I didn't know you could get your passport back. I thought they destroy them after two years of being expired.

So once you received your PR did you request your home country passport back? Was it still valid? And doesn't that cause you any trouble? since as a PR person that was refugee you are not supposed to request a passport from your country, that’s why we have the RTD

They definitely do not destroy your passport even if expired.
Yes I requested after getting PR, yes it was valid.
I requested it to use it for ID verification NOT travel or renewal. Only using it for travel, or to renew it can trigger reavailment/cessation.
I read somewhere recently that they are no longer returning passports, but some have gotten it still.

I have a question if i could get a proper answer to it. So i am from Pakistan and i claimed an asylum. Our passport has a valid us visit visa. Can i use that visa to travel to usa?
