West probably won't interfere militarily because that would probably erupt ww3. And I don't think that Russia would go farther than Ukraine (eg Hungary, Poland etc - ex post soviet bloc) because Ukraine is surrounded by NATO members.

Germany just stopped the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, that can do an awful lot of damage to Russia if remains that way. You just need to shut Russia from the use of dollars in international markets, which can only happen if they move closer to the capital of Kiev, and there you have Russia backing up faster than you can possibly think.

But, until the price of OIL goes a little bit higher and we have a "deficiency in the market" nothing really significant will not happen. Thats the world we live in.

Both NATO and Russia (also China) know very well that in 2022 it is impossible to win a war even against a small sovereign country let alone a world power such as Russia. In war "win" means you have fully invaded the enemy through the land with your land forces having 100% of all control. The US doesn't even have land connecting to the war zone so they'll be doing nothing but wasting a fortune on military logistics. They lose before they even begin. Same for Russia, they don't have the money to fully capture Ukraine, neither do they intend to. NATO's involvement will mean WW3 and do you think all these rich politicians, company owners, their funders and all those stay-in-the-shadows type secret families will allow it? These people are best friends, they got rich together doing business together.

So NATO won't be involved, and Russia won't seek to take over all of Ukraine. The bargain has already been made.

Trouble is NOT closing the pipeline right now... Trouble will happen when Putin keeps the valves closed after fall 2022. I heard many folks in many parts of europe have trouble deciding what to put money in... heating or food. Two people can play this game.

NATO will be dismantled if it doesn't interfere. It will be proven that NATO is toothless, hence there is no point in being a member.
