Jan 26th I selected appointment as passport instead of OCI as that was the only way to go around to get an early appointment at BLS Brampton is this an issue ?
Yes but they will accept both files together so CGI will know about your surrender application as well... it works the same they used to work for surrender and OCI...

Thats very nice. I guess I will book my OCI appointment and hope for the same. One more question, did you get your surrender certificate first before applying for OCI?

No, I have applied both at the same time.
I received surrender certificate in 4 days and OCI took 3 weeks.
If you go to Vancouver BLS , one advise, take your laptop with you, in case any mistake in your application, they will ask to fill other application and they will print it out for you, very helpful staff, so if you have laptop , you don’t have to make another appointment for any missing information or incorrect typos in application.
Small correction it took 11days in total for me.
I would recommend walkin.
1. can be assured they got all documents required
2. Quicker than postal based on people experience.
Note: walkin wont be that easy either as you have time constraint take pain of walkin.
I sent postal application on 29th October and bls Brampton sent to CGI on 13th nov.
Date of acknowledgment on oci - 1st December
Oci processed - 21 December
I dif though, they said it's with consulate now so they ha no role. However, today it's showing on OCI website as under process an acknowledge date as 2 Dec 2021. Hopefully it will be processed by 15 Jan as m planning to travel by end of Jan.
Hey don't go there walk in...BLS Brampton opens up slots every morning between 8.20 to 9 am for the same day appointment...use that instead...i was there just last Friday 12/17 so don't waste your time and energy...dm me if you need help

For Surrender of Indian Passport, Once we submit our application , We submit our India Passport. Do they return Indian Passport as Cancelled with Surrender certificate or only Surrender Certificate and keep our Indian passport ????
