Yes the portal is only for if you are already in Canada. Being American I'm allowed to be here for 6 months as a visitor so I've been here since June, hoping it would only be a couple months

Like other visitors you can apply to extend if you wish, although may be more practical to depart and reenter.

It was the New York VO then transferred to Manila
