I am planning on applying for the DAP in UBC. I am aware that the course takes 16-24 months to complete (24 if part-time). I would like to know how many years PGWP have students got after completing this program full-time?
Hi Chelsea,
I am also thinking to apply for UBC DAP too. May I ask if you are already enrolled? Is it possible to have a work permit to work off-campus during the time you pursue the full-time 16month DAP?
Also, do you notice that the DAP tuition is so affordable (around 14k CAD even for international students) as compared with other accounting diplomas at other universities/colleges? I don't know why it is that cheap.
Hi Chen Sun,
Sorry I still haven't applied to the program. But I do know, when you are in Student Visa ,you can only work part-time (20hrs/week off campus) and you can work on campus (I don't think there isn't any restriction on On-Campus work hours).
Yes exactly, the tuition fee is considerably cheaper than the rest. I believe the reason for that is because they charge Canadians and Non-Canadians the same fee.
Hi Chelsea,
I sent an email to the school for more information and awaiting their response. Meanwhile, I made some research into post-graduate diploma in accounting from different schools, if you'd like I can share the file. UBC DAP is so far the cheapest...
Below some feedback from UBC via email that may be of help:
"...
Tuition fees are currently $780 per course and may only be paid at the time of registration for each individual course; this is the same for both international and domestic students. Textbook and course material costs are approximately $175 per course (not included in tuition fee). DAP students are also subject to UBC Board of Governor and Student Society fees. Students are eligible to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) upon completion their final term of studies in the Diploma in Accounting Program. As UBC DAP is offered in a flexible format that allows students to be continuously enrolled full-time or adjust their enrolment each term as needed, it’s entirely at IRCC’s discretion on the PGWP duration granted and our office is unable to provide any further details on what this duration will be as this will vary from student to student. Students are required to complete 15 3-credit courses for program completion and may also complete additional optional electives during their time in the program. UBC DAP is offered in a flexible format, which allows students to be continuously enrolled full-time or adjust their enrolment each term as needed. Students are expected to complete all program requirements within 24 months of commencing the program.
For assistance with respect to visa/work permits, I encourage you to reach out to an International Student Advisor at UBC International Student Development as they are the campus resources dedicated to advising international students on immigration matters. https://students.ubc.ca/about-student-services/international-student-advising

Even I applied for UBC dap but the response on PGWP seems very vague, did you get any further confirmation from any existing students regarding the duration we get post completion
I spoke to one International student, and he told me that the PGWP is 3 years, but I'm not too sure. Like you said, it is indeed very vague, and the final say lies on the Immigration officer.
Go to LinkedIn, search for non-Canadians who have it listed on their profile and ask them the PGWP duration they got on this program... No other way for you to find out - universities and colleges always give non-commital answers.
