And my BOWP was approved last night. Valid for one year. Saw the decision when i woke up this morning.

Received my WP in the post today
everyone gets that. Yes, that means *when* your current WP expires, you can still work as it was until a decision appears.
What if my work permit has already expired and the date given on the letter is fast approaching? Does that mean I have to stop working if the date on the letter arrives before approval of BOWP?

He can continue to work on implied status though right? After the date mentioned on WP-EXT letter?

Most likely not updating the online portal.
I have submitted my application on 12th. I have the same status. Looks like 3 weeks min to 3 months. It also depends on what stage your PR application is in. My AoR is 19th March.

Are u a single applicant or with dependants?
He can continue to work on implied status though right? After the date mentioned on WP-EXT letter?
You can continue to work until the date mentioned in the WP-EXT letter,
as long as you maintain the conditions of your previous work permit, while waiting for the decision of your BOWP. The letter literally explains this clearly.
How far is your PR application?
Medicals and Bio are done. No online updates after. No ghost updates either.( If they are real, I am yet to see a ghost update. : )
No Dependents.
