Biometric is for background check and identity. That's why even you had had gave yours in the past, they still asked for it.
Biometrics is the measurement of biological data while fingerprint is the unique natural pattern of ridges on the tips of the fingers.

so you mean they have no clue, who is enering Canada and when, and have no access to border service database? But they definately have access to visas database, and can ask if applicant (or spouse) has any valid visas right now, and determine if he/she could be in Canada that very moment.. I mean, it`s their job. Instead they put your application on hold forcing you to wait unnecessary longer.

AR- August 17th, 2020
AOR- March 3rd, 2021
MR- March 3rd, 2021
Upfront Medical- January 3rd, 2021
Upfront Medical sent 1st time via webform after MR- March 6th, 2021
Response received for webform- March 31st, 2021
Still Medical is not passed.

He called and the agent said the e-medical sheets sent via webform are attached to the file, but the officer has not reviewed it till today. I don't know why.

Maybe they are dealing with the criminality part of your friend's. After that, they will review the upfront they send.

And I have a feeling that there is a huge communication gap between the agents checking the webforms and the officer working on our files. I got an email from CLIENT SERVICE UNIT, Sydney on April 6th telling me my medical is still outstanding. At that point, I have sent the upfront via webform twice (Feb and March) and also received the response for that. But the very next day(April 7th) I got MP. Sooo strange. So I think they are not reviewing upfronts right away unless that is the only thing they have to do to move our files to the next stage. So maybe they are waiting for the criminality pass for your friend to review the upfronts they send.

Just my feelings though. Could be wrong.
