They update profile. Its called ghost update. Generally they give further instructions like biometrics request, Prearrival letter, ADR etc. Etc. Some times it happens several times then they request some documents or further actions.
I am an outland applicant ,I had requested for address change on my file and also I informed them I changed job since I moved to a new place while waiting for my permanent residence file to be processed /completed as it is mentioned to inform IRCC of any change in the circumstances which is now reflecting on my file(address change) if I check my status on ECAS today.So the status which showed up as application/profile updated yesterday could be for this reason as well?
No, they didn’t give me a temporary number. I called them this afternoon to know if there is an issue with my application. After checking the lady told me that they sent back my application since December 09, because it was incomplete. So when I got home I checked the mail box and I saw the whole application.
I am also from Alberta. I am waiting for my AOR. But I have applied WP using support letter from AINP on August. The IRCC recently sent me an update and requested my Employer to pay 230 employer compliance fee and upload my employment offer through employer portal. Did you experience something like this?

I inquiry through web form and said it was returned on march 13.
They didn't tell me but
But i did not get until September.
It was lockdown at that time.
So i didn't wait for my file to come back i just resubmitted new file.
They told me that if i submit it before my pnp expire they will consider valid.
