It is not a phishing site. We've done our due diligence, I promise you. I will offer you three reasons why it is legitimate. For starters, when you go to the IRCC guide to apply for citizenship, a small prompt shows up that says IRCC are testing the online system for some applicants. This prompt links to the application page. Second, I called the IRCC yesterday to discuss the above errors I was facing when using the online application. They told me that I should just use the paper based application or wait since the tool just came out. Another member in this thread called them to verify the legitimacy of the tool and IRCC confirmed the same. Finally, members who did successfully submit receive a confirmation from an "@cic.gc.ca" email address. And before you get any ideas, no, it is not possible for someone to hack the IRCC to send these emails. To further squash the idea, applicants can check the status of their application on the IRCC website.

Agree with @BOYX
Found a cached copy of CIC statement saying they are testing an online application system which was posted at this link:
www.canada.ca › canadian-citizenship

I did some more research and indeed it is a CIC pilot program and might seem a little iffy as it's too early for a full rollout.

Regardless, I submitted my application online in about 60 mins with no errors. Received the confirmation page at the end but no emails about submission.

Time will tell the rest...

I have followed the below steps on different devices & even different browsers.

- Started creating the account as usual & entering the verification code for my e-mail address.

- Entered all personal details without requesting accommodations.

- I entered my phone number in both the "(647) XXX XXXX" format and the "647XXXXXXX" format. Made no difference.

- For address, I tried both "John St." & "John St" i.e period or no period. Made no difference. However, I always put the street number and the unit number. Did you guys do this as well?

- For the postal code, I use both the "X9X 9X9" and the "X9X9X9" formats i.e space or no space. Made no difference.

- Of course, I selected NO for the Use of Representative questions.

- For residence, I had 7 different addresses. I filled in my SIN for the taxes. I also filed my taxes for 3 years & did not require for the other two. I gave my consent to the CRA. I had 2 immigration statuses, both during the same time periods (since birth). I had two travel documents (both passports) during the period of interest. I DID have a time gap for my passport, to which I filled out the appropriate explanation. For my travel documents, I attached a PDF of my bio pages. I also did NOT have to give a police certificate.

- I had 12 different work experiences. My first two years were in another country.

- I selected NO for all of the Prohibition questions.

- For language proof, I selected "Post-Secondary Education in English" & I submitted my Transcript.pdf

- I gave my consent for the MP letter & the Register of Electors. I checked "I don't live in Quebec" for the Quebec section.

- For the Additional Documents, I submitted both a .jpg & a .jpeg format for the Citizenship Photo (not sure there's a difference but I was out of options lol). I tried adding a .jpg of the studio information in BOTH EITHER the Citizenship Photo section (alongside the Citizenship Photo) OR the Other Supporting Documents section. In both situations, the file successfully submitted. Maybe I should try a .pdf for this?

- I submitted a Receipt.pdf in the Pay Fee section.

- Finally, with everything checked, I went to Review and Submit. I provided my Name & City. Read the Privacy Notice & clicked Confirm and Submit. Upon which, I received the following error prompt along with the following message. I try submitting again and again, however I receive the same prompt.

- I sign out and sign in, upon which I notice that the Additional Documents section somehow did not save. This observation is interesting given the check mark appeared before signing out. I re-submitted the documents for the section, however, I still receive the same error. Sign out & Sign in: again, the additional documents did not save.

- I try using 4 different accounts, using different devices and browsers (yes, I literally typed out my whole history five bloody times not counting the physical application). For each account, a different section was unsaved. For one of them, my residence history did not save. For the other, my receipt did not save. For another, all sections saved but I was still not able to submit. I did not sign out while filling out everything either (as I did for my first go).
Quite a thorough post you made here. I can understand how frustrating it can be when you have carefully done something and it isn't responding well. I am sorry!!!
Based on your procedure, the only thing I guess should be the problem is the additional documents page that doesn't save when you sign out and sign in. It makes something is wrong somehow. Questions: IRCC usually give the maximum number of files that can be uploaded for each placeholder. Are you following it? I am scratching my head to find potential reasons why you are experiencing this issue! Will update you if something else comes to mind!

Just go on your desktop/laptop and google search and then view the cached copy. The information was posted at 2 places, enewsletter on cic.gc.ca and on canada.ca
Both have been removed as of now.

The link is legit and I would say apply before they close it! Lol

Yup, I am following the maximum number of files guidelines. Thanks for going through it by the way - much appreciated!

Also, keep us posted if you receive any correspondence from the IRCC.

Did you go over my steps. In particular the bolded ones. Do we have any differing steps?
@BOYX I did, mine are similar but not the same, I just filled in whatever information was asked for. I called IRCC but they flat out denied the existence of online portal. The agent just did not believe that any such portal exist. I also could not find any mention of it in the instruction guide as you said before.

If this is a Phishing site like @cash247 said, I am sooooo screwed:eek:

That is weird. Anyways, seems like they might not have been informed because here is the prompt I was talking about.

Let's take BOYX's word for it, he said he contacted IRCC and got a positive feedback. So I guess there's nothing to worry about here.

Now the waiting game...
But I am going to believe that since it's a test project(as mentioned by CIC), they probably already have resources allocated to process the applications which would be received. That could mean a very fast processing!

Hello Everyone,

I am opening this thread for all the December Online Citizenship applicants. I believe the processing times will differ between the online and the paper based groups. Therefore, it will be fruitful to have this separate thread for the online applicants.

To verify if you are eligible to apply, go here.

To access the application portal, go here.

To be comprehensive, you must meet the following conditions to apply as stated by the IRCC:

I will edit this post if any new information comes to light.

Good luck Everyone! :D
Hi, what is the advantage of the online application? Is it expected to have a faster and/or independent processing stream? Or is it just going to save the time wasted in the mail communication used in paper applications?

I just called IRCC, the agent took time to confirm, and she said this is the new system launched 4 days ago.
She said its not a pilot program, and if you eligible you can apply.
I asked if this is faster, she said its just another way they are accepting applications.

Since its just launched, expect it to be glitchy. Maybe they will fix it completely and announce it in Jan. Time will tell
