You will need to pay the fees and set up time with service canada for your biometrics... once they receive tour biometrics they will run background check.. we did our biometrics in Feb and its still in progress.. Good luck

Yes, that is correct. You need to do biometrics before you get First stage approval..

But is not possible that only eligibility is the basis for approval of AIP ? Because the background check runs for second stage

I think criminality goes first, at least it is in our case. H&C is not consistent and every case is processed differently..

They opened it in Jan 2020
Feb we got biometric request

We ordered GCMS notes
Criminality in progress
Eligibility not started

Because some in comments here they get AIP around 4-6 days, some several weeks and couple of months

There are applicants that wait 3-5 years just for the first stage approval.
