I'm currently applying for the permanent residency in Canada. I lived in Shanghai, China for 1 year (2009 to 2010) with a visa F (student). I need to provide a "Certificate of No Criminal Convictions" or "Notary Certificate of No Criminal Convictions" and a notarized translation.
I reached out to several organizations but none of them was able to give me a clear answer about how to get this document. I am not even sure if there is a way for me to get this document from China knowing I didn't register at the police station during my stay (so they may not have a record of me) and I have a category F visa (student).
Also I have read that in some cities, you are required to go in person to the police station to do the request. I'm not sure what Shanghai requires?
Lastly, I also read that sometimes we can get the police clearance waved. i have my police clearance from the country where I come from. I'm missing the one from China where I lived 1 year. Do you think i could get the Chinese police clearance waved? What are the requirements for that?
I was in the same dilemma of having to produce a Chinese PCC of my stay as a student (Visa X). I did it through an agency and my emailing my documents and wiring their fees from WesternUnion (it cost me around 900 USD). I don't recommend that service since they were a bit slow. Sorry, I am afraid we cannot help you. Since we request at least one SHANGHAI residence permit (work/student/dependent visa issued in Shanghai).

Could you please give me the name and contact of the company that did it for you? If it works for your Visa X, it might also work for my Visa F.

I got my police cert in 2 weeks by contacting this notary woman sasato1000@gmail.com. She charges $300 which is cheaper than that crazy $900USD quoted on most websites.

I got the certificate from China that says I don't have any record since I left China in 2015.
But I been back to China for a 4 week vacation in 2016.
Should the notary certificate have to include the time I spent in china in 2016 as well?

Im writing from my fiancee, her parents still in China, and they helped to get it. I dont know any details.
We just have this concern that the PC only stated No records since august 2015. But we been back to China for a short time in december 2016
Try www.chinapoliceclearance.com which provide its service in Major Chinese cities (not only Shanghai, but also Beijing, Shenzhen and Guangzhou......).
Their price is cheap in some cities.
