After reading the post, is it correct to conclude that CIC will not contact you for "file is received"? and it might be months or even a year from now that we receive an email from CIC for PCC or medical?

There is nothing that stops you from contacting them right now to ensure that your package is in the system at the “Prospect File” stage.

However, it will be a while before you get an official AoR. Not sure a year, but at least 1-2 months. That said, one person has actually already received an AoR. See timeline in my signature below. Its very random. Last year few people got AoR’s within 10-20 days. See 2018 timeline in the same file...

Hi everyone, I need some help.

For the form IMM 0008DEP, I am sponsoring my mother who is a single mom (divorced) and I dont have any siblings, what do I put in that form? Can I just leave it blank?

Also, do I need to put my father's info anywhere it is asked, even if I am not sponsoring him?

Please advise. Thanks.

I suggest that you discuss this with a lawyer. This is a fairly unique situation and you should look for professional advice...

They tried applying for marriage certificate but application got back from the indian marriage department not sure why but they are trying again with some consultant who promised it will be ready in 25 days. Marriage Dept (I am not sure if there is such a thing) in India does not issue Marriage Certificates. Get an affidavit made on Stamp paper. This can be obtained same day or the next.

First and foremost, your Parents Birth Certificate is not required unless you are also sponsoring your grandparents. That said:

Birth Certificate is a little time consuming, but my parents were able to obtain by applying to the Municipal office where they were born (Amravati & Nagpur). They were able to do so by providing a copy of their passport and school certificate. However, just these are not sufficient, the department also wanted some proof from the medical facility where my mother was born. The medical facility had a register (old paper that if you touch will disintegrate types) which provided the proof. The register did not have my mothers name but had her parents name in it.

My father was born at home; however the birth was registered in the Municipal office as " a boy was born on such and such date, at such and such address" to Mr. XYZ and Mrs XYZ. This was adequate proof. Go figure.

The Birth certificate process took appx 14 working days. My parents had to travel from Delhi to each of these two cities to get these made. These are proper / official Birth Certificates. This was done without any bribes to any official or without the engagement of any third party.

The Govt of India has official websites (specific to the local Municipalities) documenting the process to obtain the birth certificate.

We had started the process right when we got the Application to Sponsor email in Jan. All requirements were clear by then based on updated forms on CIC website. Once again, parents birth certificates are NOT required; we did it just to future proof in case they need it ever as a part of this process / once they move to Canada etc.

I am sure others from India can also weigh in on the process they followed if they also sponsored their parents and grandparents.

I am planning to sponsor my parents in 2020 and want to get myself familiar to the process as online access opens up only for 5-10 mins.

@YULIA-2016 I think this Pdf of the Submit Interest to Sponsor online form should also be on the Links tab in the Tracker. This way people will know what information is required for next year,
