call the call centre and press 2220 on your phone and if you get the message about volume of calls then retry calling again and again and press 2220 until the system puts you in queue to connect to an agent

Absolutely. They will not stamp it if it 6 months to expiry.
I'm in a same situation, passport exp. Octobar 2nd. I booked an appointment to get it extended.
You'll have to upload new one via CES.
Yes, you should. They expect your passport to be valid for atleast 6 months. Exact words from the PPR email below
“If you are holder of passport(s) from countries whose citizens need a visa to travel to Canada, you will need to submit the passport for you and for each accompanying family member. To avoid complications with international travel, it is recommended that your passport(s) be valid forat least 6 months. Your passport must have at least two blank pages. If a child is included on your passport, you must have one blank page per accompanying child. Please note that you STILL need to submit the passport even if”
