I got this but with an additional statement: 'The background verifications are currently being reviewed'

Hi guys. So I sent Ottawa a mail last week and got this response:

This is in response to your recent email enquiry regarding the status of your application. Kindly note that your application is currently awaiting review. At this point there is no action required on your part. Please be assured that as soon as the review is complete, the next steps in the processing of this application will be determined and you will be advised accordingly. We trust that this information will be of assistance.

What do you guys make of this response?

@tobs can you check in your gcms notes if you see PreVU verified somewhere. My theory is that’s the point when security gets completed. I don’t see that in my gcms as I jad ordered before approval. Curious to know if you see in your notes and if yes when was it done.

If I may pitch in. I had 2 such references. Notes 4 & 5 on 02nd and 3rd August I.e. the day my Eligibility was marked as MET and on the very next day.

Edit: Both PReVU was by Ottawa as my file was moved from CIO to Ottawa on 02nd Aug and my criminality was passed on 26 Oct.

In a way I agree with both @tobs & @cansha , I feel that it may be viewing the application for initiating a check (may be criminality or security) and not completion. Completion seems to be only known at Visa Officer level once S/He marks it as approved.

Sorry for barging in. I too have PreVU on my GCMS generated 1 month before I entered IP2 officially.

Does that make any sense?

Also, both of you please your thoughts on response I received. I know the possible answer but I need a third party opinion this time.

Our PreVU was also verified one month before IP2. Ours was done one day before you. 25th July.

Nope, I remember @Nishika22 or @richa1987 getting a similar response earlier.

This is not new and I am confident that this is another of those generic responses.

Yes I did get the same response from Ottawa. Cant be 100% sure but I have a feeling that it is the same as review by Visa Officer.

I've been waiting for 10months already and my status is still background check in progress. I don't really know what the delay reason may be as every time we call them they don't give any clarifications. I ordered notes in the beginning of Jan and still waiting, is there any way to get some additional info? Thank you

I recommend that you try all possible modes... Raise CSE, Mail VO, Call IRCC Call Centre.

For me its in security since June 2018.
Aor april 26. I have heard winnipeg is very slow. Have you had any updates yet?

My Aor is june 2018 , i have never updated my file in Immitracker neither i have posted my time line in any form .This is my first time i am posting my application details .

AOR 1 JUNE 2018
MEDICALS PASSED 13 JUNE 2018.
After this i had no update until 17th jan where i have got an email saying there is an update in my cic account .

the update was - a request to re do medicals they sent IMM 1017 forms ( three forms for three applicants )
and with this update i have also noticed my background check status has been changed to - we are processing your back ground check. we will send you a message if we need more information .
and Medicals passed has been changed to we have requested a medical exam check your message below for details.

I have taken medicals on 18th jan and still the status is same as above ( the hospital said they will upload medicals within 10 days )

Just after 24 hours after the above update - i got another update - rprf request to pay within 7 days
here the Additional documents column has updated from we do not need additional documents to - we have requested for additional documents .

I have paid rprf same day and uploaded the receipt - now the Additional documents status has updated - we are reviewing the Additional documents you have uploaded.


My doubts -

1.why was i asked to redo medicals as my previous medicals exams were taken 03 april 2018 and will expire ( 03 april 2019)

2. I was asked for rprf immediately after i was asked for Medicals and both these updates were the first changes in my application after 12 june 2018 ( 7 months )does this mean my application has come to a final stage ?

Hope to hear from fellow applicants who were active in the forums .

note - i have never ordered GCMS nor Contacted CIC.

i have seen another case like that for pnp paper pr application happened few days back.

Good analysis Oracle mam... and it does support my (or the )theory that we are never told about the exact status of the security. What I also want to add here is, (for applications which may have in IP2 sicne OCt.) is that due to enhance security process, all the files, who actually might have been completed were in queue for and additional review post completion.
As this step was added late into the system and they have limited officers for review, our files must have been delayed. Cant be sure though.

While i understand this, then whats the hold up for people who are already approved.
Got this message today despite mine being approved since Jan 8

"Good Morning,

Did any of your dependents have their medicals done prior to April?
