I think people receive the e-mail when they don't check their accounts on a regular basis. Since I check my account twice everyday I rarely get any update e-mails.

My timeline (from what I can recall):
AOR: March 14th
Medicals passed: Around March 20th
IP2: August 8th
Decision made: November 5th
PPR: December 31st from NDVO
Passport submitted to VFS: January 3rd
Passport received at Mexico City VO: January 8th
Application approved: January 10th
Passport received:???
Soft Landing: Hopefully February 14th

Aah, planning to land on Valentine's Day!

Anything special?

I am already inside Canada with Post-Graduate Work Permit and not planning to travel until my PR processing is done. I am ready to send my passport for renewal but what if I get a passport request mail from CIC while my passport is still getting renewed, the process takes about 4 weeks? WIll I send the passport to CIC as soon as I get back at the same time file a case specific inquiry since the passport number will change?

If your passport is with the passport office for renewal and you receive a PPR, you can request an extension, which is easily given. Also you will have 30 days to submit your passport.

You can send the new issued passport and there is no need to send a CSE for a passport number change.

No matter how lazy they are, they cant be as lazy as AVO. So u shld get it latest 4 weeks from the day submission. Fear not cos you are among the blessed...
